According to a published article in meadvilletribune.com, the new owner of 28 Perkins restaurants in northwest Pennsylvania, northeast Ohio, and New York plans to invest $12 million in renovating and upgrading them.

William T. Kane, a principal with 5171 Campbells Land Co. LLC of Monroeville, said the restaurants will remain in operation as Perkins.

The 5171 Campbells Land Co. is prepared to buy the 28 restaurants — including those in Clarion, Titusville, and Meadville — from Meadville-based Unique Ventures Group LLC, the current operator, for $7.8 million.

Unique Ventures filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in February of 2017 to reorganize its debts. The restaurants have remained open and operating during the bankruptcy proceedings.

The sale of the restaurants to the Campbells firm is expected to close by Wednesday.

“We’re happy to take over, and all the jobs are staying,” Kane told the Tribune following Wednesday’s hearing.

The restaurants have a total of about 1,300 employees.

Kane said the company will also reopen the Edinboro location. It was closed due to a fire.
