Perry Brooks SwansonPerry Brooks Swanson, 87, of Tionesta, passed away Saturday, March 18th, 2017 at Highland Oaks at Water Run personal care home in Clarion, PA.

He was born on November 3, 1929, a son to the late Oliver Leroy and Adelaide Harriet (Spencer) Swanson.

After graduating high school, Perry worked at the Warren State Hospital for one year before serving our country for four years in the U.S. Navy. He was stationed aboard the aircraft carriers the Corral Sea and the Lake Champlain during the Korean War.

He then returned to working at the Warren State Hospital for two years before entering the State Police training school in Hershey in 1957.

He served as a Trooper in the Pennsylvania State Police for 32 years.

Perry was a member of the FOP and the NRA. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening and always enjoyed a clean truck.

He also attended the Town Line Free Methodist Church in Endeavor, PA for years.

Perry is survived by 2 children, Stanley Swanson of Pleasantville, PA and Jill (Rick) Thompson of Strattanville, PA; 3 grandchildren, Justin (Amanda) Swanson of North Carolina, Rachel and Jordon Thompson both of Strattanville, PA and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Perry was preceded in death by his wife, Idabelle Chase Swanson; an older brother, Spencer Swanson and a twin brother, Oliver “Pete” Swanson.

Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 from 6-8pm at the Nelson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 314 North Main Street, Youngsville, PA 16371. A funeral service will be held there on Thursday, March 23, at 11am with the Rev. Timothy Olsen, pastor of the Garland Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will follow in the Hessel Valley Cemetery. The Youngsville American Legion Honor Guard will provide full military honors at the Cemetery.

The family would like to send a special “thank you” to the staff at Highland Oaks for giving the upmost care to their father and grandfather.
