Yost PhotoPhilip A. Yost, Sr., of Brookville passed away at Jefferson Manor on January 18, 2017 after a period of declining health. He was 86 years of age.

Born on July 25, 1930 in Racine, Wisconsin, he was the son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Mihalic) Yost. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy where he trained to serve as an electronics technician. He rose to the rank of Chief Petty Officer and retired after 20 years of service. He then served in the United States Naval Reserves for 10 additional years.

On May 3, 1963, he married the former Mildred Harriff, who survives. He enjoyed anything “mechanical,” cars, mowers, whatever. He loved taking things apart and putting them back together. His sons share that same love.

He is survived by his sons, Philip A. Yost, Jr. and Richard A. Yost, both of Brookville; his daughters, Melody Schultz, of DuBois, and Elizabeth Conley, of Hollywood, Maryland; two grandchildren, Kitiara Yale and Cheyenne Conley; his brother, Daniel Yost, of Racine, Wisconsin; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Lawrence Yost, and a sister, Bernadette Yost.

Arrangements are under the care of the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory in Clarion. As per his expressed wishes, there will be no visitation or services.
