Phillip James Shupe

Phillip James Shupe, 84, of Tionesta, died early Tuesday morning, September 5, 2017, at Pennsylvania Soldiers and Sailors Home in Erie.

Born June 5, 1933, in Burrell Township, Armstrong County, he was the son of the late Blair J. and Geraldine H. Suman Shupe.

Phillip married the former Shirley J. Pirhalla on July 17, 1955, in Vandergrift and she survives.

Mr. Shupe served with the U.S. Marine Corp. He worked for U.S. Steel Fairless Works for 35 years and he also owned his own construction company for 20 years and later worked for Marshall Maintenance in Trenton, N.J. and then for Long Acre Potato Farm.

He was a member of Brethren Church in Fairless Hills, Pa, the SOAR Club and Fryburg Sportsmans Club. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and hunting.

In addition to his wife, Phillip is survived by 7 children: Phillip J. Shupe, Jr. and his wife, Mary Beth of Levittown, PA; Mark A. Shupe of Tionesta; David R. Shupe of Tionesta; Loretta A. Dileo and her husband, David of Yardley, PA; Blair R. Shupe and his companion, Kristin of Terre Hill, PA; Shirley J. Corson and her companion, Joseph of Sinking Spring, PA and Kevin W. Shupe and his wife, Megan of Morrisville, PA. He is also survived by 6 brothers and sisters: Phyllis Sinnamond of Apollo, PA; Lorrene Livengood and her husband, Chip of Apollo, PA; Blair Shupe, Jr. and his wife, Ann of Austin, PA; Lynn Shupe and his wife, Linda of Apollo, PA; Bonnie Shupe of Leechburg, PA and Ethel Shupe of Apollo, PA.

In addition, he is survived by 14 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Phillip was preceded in death by 1 sister and 2 brothers: Emily Foster, Chuck Shupe and Robert Shupe.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

The family suggests that memorial donations be made to Soldiers and Sailors Home in Erie.
