Phyllis J. Shreckengost, 82, of New Bethlehem (Putneyville) died Sunday morning, October 7, 2018, at the Kittanning Care Center.

Born on May 12, 1936, in Putneyville, she was a daughter of the late Oscar and Mary (Crissman) Shreckengost.

Phyllis was a homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with family. She enjoyed watching soap operas, westerns, listening to country western music, and going for ice cream. She liked shopping with Pauline, she loved goofy from Disney and she liked her cardinals and cats.

She is survived by a son Jeffrey Shreckengost and his wife Jane of New Bethlehem, five grandchildren, Randy Shreckengost (Tina), Bobby Shreckengost (Diana), Mike Shreckengost (Jennifer), Melissa Kahle (Jamey) Jeffrey Shreckengost, Jr. (Jennifer), thirteen great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren, two sister-in-laws, Pauline “Boose” Shreckengost of Brookville and Agnes Shreckengost of Dayton.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Floyd Shreckengost and Theodore Shreckengost, and three sisters, Helen Schreckengost, Elva McAninch, and Laura Stewart.

Visitation will be on Tuesday evening, October 9, 2018, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn, funeral services will follow at 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Lyle Westover officiating. Interment will be held in the Jerusalem Luthern Cemetery, Armstrong County.
