Phyllis Kathleen Jacoby

Phyllis Kathleen Jacoby, of Water Run Landing, Clarion, PA, died September 30, 2019.

Born in Oil City, PA, on April 10, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Vernon & Clara Pierce Rodgers.

Phyllis was a 1950 graduate of Oil City School of Nursing. She later received a Bachelor of Nursing from Clarion University and a Masters Degree in Education from Edinboro University.

She was married on October 5, 1950, to Wayne P. Jacoby and he preceded her in death on August 2, 2018.

Phyllis is survived by her children, Robert (Mary Ann) of Cranberry, Ann (Byron) Stebbins of College Station, TX, John (Roberta) Jacoby of Phoenix, AZ, Leonard (Gloria) Jacoby of Morgantown, WV, Andrew (Sherry) Jacoby of Surprise, AZ, and her dear sister Lois Hewston of West Haven, CT, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son Michael Jacoby and two brothers Vernon and Clayton Rodgers

Phyllis worked at the Oil City Hospital from 1950 until she retired in 1991. She was employed for a time as a nursing instructor at the Venango County Area Vocational Technical School. Phyllis was instrumental in her career in assisting Dr. Frank Esparraguera to set up the first Renal Dialysis Unit in Oil City. She served as Director of Nursing and later Vice President of Nursing at the hospital from 1970 until 1990.

Phyllis was a member of several community organizations.

Upon retirement she and Wayne moved to Phoenix, AZ, returning to Oil City Area in 2009.

In 1978 she and Wayne became Jehovah’s Witnesses. She was an avid Bible reader and enjoyed speaking to people in the area about the Bible. Her faith played a large part in her life and she will be truly missed by family and friends. She enjoyed her family, traveling and crocheting as a hobby.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses at 144 South Main Street, Seneca, PA. On October 19, at 1:30 p.m.

The Reinsel Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
