FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) — The movie “Pitching Tents” will be shown on Friday, July 21, at the Barrow-Civic Theatre.

Set in working-class Oil City, Pa., in 1984, Pitching Tents is coming-of-age comedy about high school senior, Danny Whitaker, whose future creates a tug-of-war between his father and his guidance counselor, until an encounter with a goddess helps him uncover his true destiny.

Pitching Tents will make you laugh at things you’ll remember, gasp at things you’ve never seen, and give you a lump in your throat when its honesty hits home — starring Michael Grant (The Secret Life of the American Teenager), Booboo Stewart (Twilight, X-Men, Descendants), Jonathan Lipnicki (Jerry Maguire), Marco James Marquez (The Vampire Diaries), comedian Jim Norton (Inside Amy Schumer, Louie), Eric Allan Kramer (Good Luck Charlie), and model, Samantha Basalari.

Produced by Meritage Pictures and directed by Jacob Cooney, the film is based on the script by Jayme Petrille and Oil City native, Rob Fox, who said “I loved growing up in Oil City. So much, I co-wrote a screenplay about it — a movie in the spirit of Breaking Away or American Graffiti.”

Other local residents contributed to the film, including Jerome Wincek, who supplied original music for the soundtrack, and Mike Roser, who created all of the film’s original artwork, including drawings portrayed in the movie as illustrations by the main character, Danny.

This film is unrated with a run-time of 93 minutes. To learn more, visit pitchingtentsmovie.com.
