| December 9, 2016

Pitt Panthers running back and cancer survivor James Conner recognizes five-year-old Andrew O’Neil, the son of Franklin native Jaime Hagerty O’Neil and Brian O’Neil, during his acceptance speech for the Disney Wide World of Sports Spirit Award.

The award is presented annually to college football’s most inspirational individual or team. It is one of 21 awards presented by the National College Football Awards Association (NCFAA).

In April 2015, Andrew was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a form of stomach cancer. Andrew recently had the opportunity to meet Conner during a November 19 game at Heinz Field.
