Pleasantville Couple Victim of Phone Scam

PLEASANTVILLE, Pa. (EYT) – Franklin-based State Police are investigating an incident of Theft-Fraud and Forgery that occurred on August 29 in Pleasantville Borough, Venango County.

According to police, an individual contacted the victim by phone and demanded $2,000.00 in order to prevent their grandson from having felony charges brought against him.

The caller advised the victim to purchase green dot cards at the local CVS pharmacy in Titusville, and the caller would call the victim back to obtain the identification numbers.

The victim placed $500.00 on four cards and when contacted relayed the numbers to the caller.
