Pluma E. Umstead Pratt

Pluma E. Umstead Pratt, age 88, of Oil City, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at the Country Acres Personal Care Home in Titusville.

Pluma was born on November 3, 1930, in Cranberry Township, Venango County, a daughter to the late Harry L. and Gertrude Wood Umstead.

She was a graduate of Ashland High School and of the Oil City Hospital School of Nursing.

She was employed by the Oil City Hospital for several years, and also did some private duty nursing.

In her early years, Pluma loved sewing, playing cards, and making delicious apple pies.

All throughout life, she loved to read, spend time with her family, and especially loved travelling south in the winter months.

On October 20, 1954 she was married to Richard David Pratt, who preceded her in death on March 16, 2000.

Pluma is survived by two sons, Richard S. Pratt and wife Michele of Oil City, Scott L. Pratt and wife Lisa of Oil City; two daughters, Amy Lee Pratt of Fort Mill, SC, Christine Dehn and husband David of Huntersville, NC; eight grandchildren, James Goodman, Sara Pratt & Matt McClellan, Michael Pratt, Jenny & Chris Domer, Hailey Dehn, Jacob Dehn, Ashley Dehn, and Mike and Stephanie Baker; and four great grandchildren.

She is also survived by two sisters, Beatrice Umstead of Canton, OH, Idabelle Hogue of Shippenville; and two brothers, Earl Umstead of Cranberry, and Ralph Umstead of Van.

In addition to her parents, and husband, Pluma was preceded in death by a daughter, Beth Ann Pratt; sister, Mildred Umstead; and four brothers, Alfred Umstead, Harry Umstead, Harold Umstead, and Archie Umstead.

Pluma’s family would like to thank the Country Acres Personal Care Home nurses and aides for their professionalism, support, and excellent quality of care they provided to Pluma during her stay there.

A private graveside service will be held on Friday, April 5, 2019.

Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.
