Police: Driver Distracted by Coffee, Crashes in Embankment, Rolls Over

CRANBERRY TWP., Pa. (EYT) — According to Franklin-based State Police, a one-vehicle accident occurred yesterday on Bredinsburg Road, north of Ridgemont Lane, in Cranberry Township, Venango County.

Police say around 6:51 p.m. on October 3, 57-year-old Joseph L. McFeaters, of Franklin, was traveling east on Bredinsburg Road when he became distracted by his coffee, and his 2002 GMC Sonoma traveled southeast into an embankment.

According to police, the vehicle continued east up the embankment and rolled over on its roof, coming to a final rest in the middle of the road facing southeast.

McFeaters was using a seat belt and was not injured, police say.

Community Ambulance, Lowrey’s Towing, and Seneca Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.

McFeaters was charged with a traffic violation in District Court 28-3-04.
