FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) — Additional details have been released on the burglary of an elderly victim’s residence interrupted by Franklin Police.

According to a criminal complaint, police were dispatched to a home along Eagle Street in Franklin around 12:36 a.m. on August 20 for a report of a possible burglary.

Through the course of an investigation, police determined Brian Richard Coxson, 41, of Franklin, broke into a 78-year-old victim’s house and began threatening her with physical harm, yelled, and acted violent, the complaint states.

Victim Asks Coxson To Leave, Calls 911

The complaint indicates the victim instructed Coxson to leave the premises several times, but Coxson allegedly became more aggressive and told the victim “you don’t give me orders.” Coxson allegedly had a large fixed-blade knife which he set on a partition wall.

The victim used a walker and attempted to escort Coxson out of the residence, but Coxson allegedly moved around the victim in an effort to stay in her house, during which time the knife fell on the floor and was later recovered by police, the complaint states.

The victim called 911 and reported the incident, and while on the phone with 911, Coxson allegedly grabbed the phone from her and broke it to prevent her from calling for help. The victim sat on her bed and waited for help and Coxson walked closer and stood over her, yelling and screaming in close proximity to her, the complaint continues.

Coxson allegedly threatened the victim and told her he would have her arrested for animal cruelty, according to the complaint.

Officers Arrive, Coxson Allegedly Threatens Them

Officers arrived on scene and could allegedly hear Coxson yelling at the victim, then saw him standing while the victim was sitting on her bed asking him to leave the residence, the complaint indicates.

As Coxson allegedly continued yelling at the victim and acting violent, police grabbed him and escorted him from the residence, placing him under arrest, the complaint continues.

Coxson allegedly became combative with officers while he was handcuffed, then attempted to kick the glass out of a police vehicle and threatened to kill police officers, telling one officer he should “tell my wife and kids goodbye as I will not be alive soon,” the complaint states.

Coxson allegedly threatened officers several times and again attempted to kick the glass from the police vehicle, then kicked a police officer several times in the leg while the officer was trying to get control of him, the complaint indicates.

Threatening Behavior Continues

Coxson was taken to the Franklin Police Department where he allegedly continued to threaten officers, according to the complaint.

While in a jail cell, Coxson allegedly removed all of his clothing except his underwear, urinated in the jail cell, spat on the cell floor, stood on top of the cell cot, and attempted to damage city property, the complaint continues.

While standing on the cot, Coxson performed a sexual act by himself “until he was addressed by police,” the complaint states.

According to online court documents, Coxson was arraigned at 8:52 a.m on August 28 in front of Judge Snyder.

He faces the following offenses:

  • Burglary, Felony 1
  • Aggravated Assault, Felony 2
  • Criminal Trespass, Felony 2
  • Terroristic Threats, Misdemeanor 1
  • Criminal Mischief, Misdemeanor 3
  • Disorderly Conduct, Misdemeanor 3
  • Public Drunkenness

Unable to post $100,000.00 cash bail, he was placed in the Venango County Jail.
