FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) — Franklin Police say a crash allegedly involving DUI occurred at CoFields Corners, in Franklin, Venango County.

Franklin Police Department were dispatched around 2:02 a.m. on May 5, to the Cofields Corners intersection for a report of a one-vehicle accident.

According to police, it was determined that the vehicle was traveling south on State Route 417, failed to negotiate a left hand curve in the roadway, and struck a concrete island — causing significant undercarriage damage to the vehicle.

Police say the driver, Monica J. McElhaney, of Franklin, was allegedly highly impaired due to drinking alcoholic beverages.

She was arrested for DUI and taken for chemical testing, according to police.

She was later released to a family member, police say.

She has been charged with two counts of DUI and a summary traffic violation, according to police.
