FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) — Police said a man was found intoxicated and in possession of controlled substances in Franklin after a resident discovered him blowing the horn inside their car.

According to police, around 2:41 a.m. on Wednesday, February 28, a caller contacted Franklin Police to report that someone was inside their vehicle and activating its horn.

Ptlm. Wheeling responded and arrived on scene. He made contact with a male who was later identified as Edward W. Smith and discovered that Smith “did not know where he was, whose vehicle he was in, where he was coming from, or what he was doing.”

Smith was activating the horn with his head as he leaned forward and nodded off.

Upon searching Smith’s property and person, he was found to be in possession of controlled substances and several syringes containing an undisclosed residue.

Smith was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Franklin Police Department for further processing. He was also found to be under state probation supervision.
