| May 13, 2019

FOREST CO., Pa. (EYT) – Marienville-based State Police say a local teen beat and tortured a cat to death while another teen video recorded the incident at a garage in Barnett Township, Forest County.

This crime occurred after two teenagers – a 17-year-old Marienville male and a 17-year-old Clarington male – were traveling southbound on State Route 36 in Tylersburg and a cat suddenly entered the travel lane of Route 36 from the right (west).

According to the above-mentioned teens, they inadvertently hit the cat, and it was only injured and still alive. The cat was thrown alive into the bed of the pickup truck and was transported several miles to 40351 Route 66 in Marienville at which time a male juvenile retrieved the injured cat from the bed of the pickup truck and walking a short distance aggressively threw the cat against the front wall of a wooden garage.

According to Investigating Officer Smith, of Marienville-based State Police, “the male juvenile then retrieved the cat and entered the interior of the garage and proceeded to disturbingly beat and torture the cat while repeatedly striking the cat to death with a metal splitting maul, all while being video recorded by another male juvenile.”

The cat was then disposed of when the male juvenile tossed the cat into a wooded area behind the above-described garage.

Police say the incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. on April 5

The investigation remains ongoing with prosecution pending.
