OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) — An Oil City man is facing charges for reportedly engaging in a dispute that escalated into a physical assault of three people while he was drunk.

Court documents indicate the Oil City Police Department filed criminal charges against 20-year-old Demarco Francis.

According to a criminal complaint, Oil City Police officers were dispatched to a location on Park Road for a report of an employee of a landscaping business “going crazy” in a backyard.

At the scene, one of the victims warned the officers the man in question was starting to run through the backyard. Officers then apprehended the man several residences down from initial location. He was later identified as Demarco Francis.

While in custody, Francis told officers he “had consumed multiple alcoholic beverages,” and the officers noted an odor of alcohol on him and also reported he had slurred speech and blood shot eyes. He was then placed in a police vehicle while officers spoke to the victims, the complaint states.

The victims reported that Francis was highly intoxicated and got into a verbal dispute with them and then struck all three of them multiple times, leaving visible marks on one victim’s shoulder and upper back area, according to the complaint.

Francis was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Andrew F. Fish at 12:20 p.m. on Sunday, May 31, on the following charges:

– Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2
– Harassment — Subject Other to Physical Contact, Summary (three counts)
– Purchase Etc Alcoholic Beverage By A Minor, Summary

He remains free on $1,000.00 unsecured bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, June 10, with Judge Fish presiding.
