Police Officer Tackles Pitbull After It Attacks Man in Franklin

FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) — Around 12:54 p.m. on November 24, Franklin Police Officers were dispatched to 1045 Elm Street for a report of a dangerous dog.

Police say there was a report of a pitbull mix dog repeatedly attacking a male at the above described location.

Upon officers’ arrival on the scene, Franklin Police Officer Scott tackled the dog, wrestling it to the ground after it charged officers in the residence, according to police,

Officers then secured the dog, and it was then transported to the Venango County Humane Society to be quarantined.

The 21-year-old male victim suffered numerous bite wounds. Community Ambulance Service transported him to UPMC Northwest Medical Center for medical treatment, according to police.

Officer Scott suffered minor injuries and received treatment at UPMC Northwest as well, police say.

The incident will be handled in accordance with the Dangerous Dog Protocol, according to police.
