FRYBURG, Pa. (EYT) – State police have released details in an ATV crash that left a Fryburg man seriously injured.

State police tell exploreClarion.com that the accident occurred on Sunday, May 27, around 3:10 p.m. at the intersection of Dempseytown Road and Gowdy Road in Fryburg.

Police said an ATV operated by Zachary D. Brooks, 20, of Fryburg, was traveling south on Dempseytown Road when it collided with a Ford F-250 pickup truck at the road’s intersection with Gowdy Road.

The truck, operated by James F. Struna, 70, of Pittsburgh, was stopped at a stop sign on Gowdy Road and attempting to proceed through the intersection when the ATV’s front bumper struck the drivers’ side front bumper of the truck.

Police said the ATV then traveled in a southern direction while overturning.

Brooks was thrown from the ATV during the crash.

Police said Brooks sustained a “severe injury” and was transported to UPMC Northwest before being flown to UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh.
