Police Release Details on Franklin Man Charged with Identity Theft

FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) — Franklin-based State Police say an incident of Identity Theft occurred at two Venango County locations — Reno and Franklin.

According to police, sometime between 12:44 a.m. and 1:48 a.m. on December 28, 2014, Christopher Shawn Rutherford, 31, of Franklin, allegedly used a 25-year-old Oil City woman’s ATM card without her authorization.

Rutherford allegedly used the card to withdraw a total of $409.50 from the following locations:

– Northwest Savings Bank ATM at Kwik Fill on State Route 62 in Reno
– First National Bank ATM at Shop n’ Save in Franklin.

Police say Rutherford is being charged through District Court 28-3-04 with the following offenses:

– Two counts of Access Device Fraud
– Two counts of Theft by Unlawful Taking or Disposition
– Two counts of Identity Theft
– One count of Driving While Operating Privilege is Suspended or Revoked
