Police Release Details on Oakland Twp. Hit-and-Run Crash

OAKLAND TWP., Pa. (EYT) — State Police said a Franklin man fled the scene of an accident in Oakland Township.

According to Franklin-based State Police, Gerald W. Bickel, 64, was driving a 2001 Chevy Blazer south on Sunville Road at 9 p.m. on January 11 when he failed to negotiate a left turn, left the road and hit a utility pole.

After hitting the pole, the Blazer came to rest in a culvert and then Bickel allegedly fled the scene.

It is unknown if Bickel was wearing a seat belt or was injured.

He was cited for careless driving.

Minich Towing removed the vehicle from the scene.
