Police Respond to SCI Forest for Aggravated Assault; Prisoner Life-Flighted to UPMC Hamot

JENKS TWP., Pa. (EYT) — State police say an incident of aggravated assault occurred on Saturday night at SCI Forest located at 28 Woodland Drive, in Jenks Township, Forest County.

According to Marienville-based State Police, the victim — a 46-year-old man — was found lying on the floor of his cell around 7:30 p.m.on Saturday, May 26, by a corrections officer.

The victim suffered a severe injury to his head and was lying in a pool of blood near the toilet in the cell. He was also displaying very labored breathing.

The victim’s cellmate — a 32-year-old man — was found to be standing near the cell door. The suspect was then removed from the cell by SCI Forest staff and medical staff was summoned to provide medical care to the victim.

The victim was subsequently life-flighted to UPMC Hamot where he was listed in critical condition and is on life support.

The investigation is ongoing.
