Police: Traffic Stop Leads to DUI Arrest in Franklin

FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) — Franklin Police say around 12:41 a.m. on July 4, a DUI arrest was made on the 1200 block of Liberty Street, in Franklin, Venango County.

According to police, following a traffic stop, 49-year-old James Ward Sorrels, of Corydon, IN, was allegedly found to be intoxicated and failed a Standard Field Sobriety test.

He was arrested for DUI and transported to the Franklin Police Department.

At 8:45 a.m. on July 4, he was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Patrick E. Lowrey and charged with the following offenses:

  • DUI: Gen Impairment/Incompetent of Driving Safely — 1st Offense, Misdemeanor
  • Disregard Traffic Lane (Single), Summary

Unable to post $7,500.00 bail, he was lodged in the Venango County Jail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on July 8 in Venango County Central Court
