VICTORY TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Franklin-based State Police say a hit-and-run occurred early Sunday morning on Route 62, in Victory Township, Venango County.

According to police, a one-vehicle crash occurred around 3:16 a.m. on Sunday, August 5, as a 2000 Ford Ranger was traveling west on State Route 62.

Police say the driver — 24-year-old Marshall H. Feltenberger, of Polk — stated that he was not paying attention and drove off the left side of the roadway.

The vehicle struck two mailboxes, two railroad ties, sideswiped a tree, and then struck a second tree. The vehicle bounced back off the second tree approximately one foot where it came to a final rest.

According to police, Feltenberger fled the scene and contacted police approximately 11 hours later. At first, he claimed that his truck had been stolen. After approximately 10 to 15 minutes, Feltenberger “admitted that the truck had not been stolen, and he had in fact been driving it at the time of the crash.”

Feltenberger was not injured.

Polk and Sandycreek Volunteer Fire Departments and Lowry’s Towing assisted at the scene.

Feltenberger was charged with a traffic violation.
