Polk Woman Life-Flighted Following Head-On Crash

AmbulanceSANDYCREEK TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Four people were injured in a two-vehicle crash in Sandycreek Township last night.

State police in Franklin said the accident happened around 8:30 p.m. when 65-year-old Carolyn Wright, of Polk, failed to stop at the intersection of SR-8 and the Polk cut-off road.

Ms. Wright’s 2003 Buick Century traveled across the southbound lane of SR-8 and crashed into the left front of a north-bound 1997 Dodge Grand Caravan operated by 52-year-old William Baumbeck of Pittsburgh.

Ms. Wright was Life-Flighted to an undisclosed hospital for treatment of injuries.

A passenger in Ms. Wright’s vehicle, Mary Anderson, of Franklin, sustained moderate injuries.

A 10-month-old passenger in Ms. Wright’s vehicle escaped injury.

Mr. Baumbeck and his passenger, 21-year-old Brandon Baumbeck, of Pittsburgh, sustained moderate injuries in the crash.

Both vehicles were severely damaged.
