Power System Stolen from Oil Wells in Cornplanter Township

CORNPLANTER TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Police are investigating the theft of a power system that was stolen from an oil well site in Cornplanter Township.

Around 10:14 a.m. on Thursday, September 19, Franklin-based State Police received a call in reference to a theft that occurred at an oil site near State Route 227/Rouseville Road in Cornplanter Township, Venango County.

Police say upon investigation it was determined that an unknown individual(s) entered a wooded area which contains operating oil pumps located off McFate Road, between the dates of August 15 and September 18, and stole a power system that would have been used to power the rods in the older style oil pumping wells.

According to police, the investigation determined that the power system would have been approximately seven feet long by seven feet wide and approximately five feet tall and made from cast iron.
