BARKEYVILLE, Pa. (EYT) – Franklin-based State Police are investigating an early morning hit-and-run crash in Barkeyville Borough, Venango County.

Police say the accident happened around 1:38 a.m. on Pittsburgh Road near its intersection with Chestnut Street.

According to police, a 2000 Ford Ranger lost control and exited the roadway while traveling north on Pittsburgh Road.

Police say the vehicle struck a street sign and a mailbox before colliding with a utility pole.

The driver fled on foot prior to police arrival.
