CANAL TWP., Pa. (EYT) — According to Franklin-based State Police, a theft occurred on US Route 322, in Utica, Canal Township, Venango County.

Police say on July 5, 18-year-old Justin Michael Ernst, of Meadville, and a known, 51-year-old Franklin man entered into an agreement to purchase a 1985 Imperial Boat and a 1985 Eagle Trailer.

According to police, Ernst wrote a check in the amount of $5,500.00 and asked the victim to hold the check until July 7 to cash. When the victim tried to cash the check, he was unable to do so.

Ernest allegedly stole old checks from a closed account of his parents. Charges are pending, according to police.

Police say the boat is to be in the Conneaut Lake/Meadville area.

It is described as a 1985, 20 ft., two-tone, yellow and brown Imperial Boat.

Anyone with information on the location of the boat is asked to contact PSP Franklin at 676-6596.
