State Police Respond to Cherrytree Township DUI Crash

CHERRYTREE TWP., Pa. (EYT) — A 26-year-old man was arrested for suspicion of DUI following a crash on Route 8 in Cherrytree Township.

Around 11:10 p.m. on Friday, October 5, Franklin-based State Police were informed of a single motor vehicle crash that occurred on State Route 8, in Cherrytree Township, Venango County.

The vehicle — a 2004 Ford F-150XLT pickup — had been traveling south on Route 8 and exited the roadway on its western berm.

The vehicle traveled approximately 100 feet on the berm and struck a mailbox before re-entering the roadway. Upon re-entering, the vehicle crossed the oncoming lane where it struck a guide rail on the eastern side of the roadway. The vehicle continued to travel over a large hillside where it came to a final rest.

Upon further investigation, the driver of the vehicle — a 26-year-old Titusville man — was believed to be under the influence of alcohol and arrested for suspicion of DUI.

Charges are pending blood results.

The name of the driver was not released.
