CRANBERRY TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Franklin-based State Police say a one-car accident occurred late last night, on Bredinsburg Road (State Route 2006), north of US 322, in Cranberry Township, Venango County.

According to police, around 11:30 p.m., a 1993 BMW 325IS was traveling east on Bredinsburg Road in the right hand lane, and the unknown driver failed to negotiate a right hand curve in the roadway. The car traveled across the westbound lane and off the northern berm of the road.

Police say the driver’s side front bumper area then initially impacted a guide rail on the northern side of Bredinsburg Road. The car traveled along the guide rails for approximately 21 feet and then traveled southeast across both lanes of Bredinsburg Road while rotating clockwise. The left front tire had a second impact with an embankment south of the roadway. The car traveled easterly along the embankment and the left front tire impacted a stone wall located south of the road.

After the third impact, the car overturned onto its roof and came to a final rest on the white fog line facing south.

Police say the driver fled the scene on foot.

No other information was available.
