CRANBERRY TWP., Pa. (EYT) – State police released details on a three-vehicle crash that occurred on U.S. 322 in Cranberry Township, Venango County.

According to Franklin-based State Police, 46-year-old Tracey L. Auber, of Oil City, was operating a 2014 Toyota Elantra, 23-year-old Carter J. Sarah, of Franklin, was operating a 2011 Hyundai RAV4, and 44-year-old Lara L. Bell of Knox was operating a 2014 Ford Escape.

All vehicles were traveling east on U.S. 322 just east of Garden Lane in Cranberry Township, around 12:05 p.m. on Wednesday, June 13.

Police say a backlog of traffic had begun to build as traffic was moving slowly due to an oversized load truck traveling east on U.S. 322. While in the backlog of traffic, an unidentified vehicle in front of Bell’s vehicle applied its brakes abruptly and turned to the left.

As the unknown vehicle applied its brakes, Bell applied her brakes and was able to slow enough to avoid striking the vehicle.

As Bell slowed down, Auber was unable to slow down in time and her vehicle struck Bell’s vehicle from behind. Sarah, who was following Auber, then struck the Auber from behind, which caused Auber’s vehicle to strike Bell’s vehicle a second time.

All three drivers were wearing seatbelts.

Auber and Sarah were transported to UPMC Northwest for injuries of an unknown severity.

Auber and Sarah were cited for following too closely.

The above report was released to exploreVenango.com on Tuesday, June 19, 2018.
