Police: Woman Runs Stop Sign, Causes Crash on Route 36

CLARION CO., Pa. (EYT) – Police say a woman ran a stop sign at the intersection of Miola Road and State Route 36 that resulted in a crash on Saturday afternoon.

According to Marienville-based State Police, around 1:02 p.m. on Saturday, September 28, 60-year-old Geraldine D. Smith, of Brookville, was operating a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze, traveling north on Miola Road in Farmington Township, Clarion County.

Police say Smith failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Miola Road and Route 36 and struck the side of a 2017 Kia Niro, operated by 57-year-old Melody M. Chisholm, of State College, that was traveling east on State Route 36.

According to police, both vehicles were able to safely clear the roadway following the crash.

Chisholm, Smith, and Smith’s two passengers were all wearing seat belts, and no injuries were reported.

Smith was cited for a stop sign violation.

Farmington Township Volunteer Fire Company and Clarion County EMS assisted at the scene.
