Oil City Police Search Leads to Arrests on Drug, Child Endangerment Charges

OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) – Two Oil City residents have been arrested on drug and child endangerment charges following a police search of their residence on Wednesday.

According to court documents, the Oil City Police Department filed criminal charges against 21-year-old Jeffrey Goodman, Jr. and 21-year-old Jade Maaree Hurst, both of Oil City.

On March 21, Oil City Police Department executed a search warrant at a residence on Manning Street based on an investigation of gun violations that began in February of 2018.

During a search of the house, officers located a bag in the bedroom belonging to Goodman and Hurst. A search of the bag revealed a substantial amount of marijuana along with packaging materials, digital scales, and two bongs.

The bag was located where one of the minor children living inside the residence would have had access to it, according to police.

Officers also located a .22 caliber rifle on the dresser of the bedroom. A check of the firearm revealed it was loaded. The firearm was seized for safekeeping. A cursory search of the residence revealed a “makeshift” shooting range where Goodman or other occupants of the residence fired the said .22 caliber rifle and another small caliber firearm, police say.

Goodman has been charged with the following:

– Conspiracy – Penalties – Sales to Ineligible Transferee, Felony 3 (two counts)
– Penalties – Sales to Ineligible Transferee, Felony 3 (two counts)
– Endangering Welfare of Children -Parent/Guardian/Other Commits Offense, Felony 3 (two counts)
– Conspiracy – Manufacture, Delivery, or Possession, With Intent to Manufacture or Deliver, Felony
– Manufacture, Delivery, or Possession With Intent to Manufacture or Deliver, Felony
– False Report – Falsely Incriminate Another, Misdemeanor 2
– Intentional Possession Controlled Substance By Person Not Registered, Misdemeanor
– Use/Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor

Unable to post $25,000.00 monetary bail, Goodman was lodged in the Venango County Jail.

Hurst has been charged with the following:

– Endangering Welfare of Children -Parent/Guardian/Other Commits Offense, Felony 2 (two counts)
– Intentional Possession Controlled Substance By Person Not Registered, Misdemeanor (two counts)
– Manufacture, Delivery, or Possession With Intent to Manufacture or Deliver, Felony
– Conspiracy – Manufacture, Delivery, or Possession With Intent to Manufacture or Deliver, Felony

Hurst is free on $25,000.00 unsecured bail.

Preliminary hearings are set for March 28, 2018, at 8:30 a.m. in front of Magisterial District Judge Andrew F. Fish.
