OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) — Police in Oil City are warning residents about unlicensed solicitors in the city.

While on patrol around 4:19 p.m. on Tuesday, September 11, officers of the Oil City Police Department observed a man going door-to-door, possibly soliciting.

Upon investigation, the officers learned that the man and several others were in the area soliciting for electric and natural gas companies.

The man was informed that those soliciting must first obtain a solicitor’s license from the city before being allowed to go door-to-door and that all actions must cease until a license is issued.

Oil City residents are advised to ask solicitors if they have a license to do business within city limits. Residents are urged to contact the Oil City Police Department at 814-678-3080 to report unlicensed solicitors.
