Franklin Teen Injured in Sandycreek Crash

SANDYCREEK TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) — A Franklin teenager was taken the hospital following a two-vehicle crash on Pittsburgh Road early Thursday in Sandycreek Township.

According to a report from Franklin-based State Police, the 17-year-old female was driving a 2004 Pontiac Sunfire south on Pittsburgh Road and was in the left turning lane attempting to turn onto Pone Lane.

A 2016 GMC Sierra, driven by Byron Jespersen, 62, of Russell, Pa., was headed north when the Sunfire turned into his lane of travel and collided with the Sierra.

The teenager was taken to UPMC Northwest by Community Ambulance for treatment of a suspected minor injury.

Both drivers were wearing their seat belts.

The teenager was cited for careless driving.

Franklin Fire Department and Lowry Auto Body assisted at the scene.
