SCRUBGRASS TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Franklin-based State Police say a two-vehicle accident occurred Monday morning on Interstate 80, in Scrubgrass Township, Venango County.

According to police, 60-year-old Daniel P. Mosner, of Newtown, CT, and 42-year-old Joseph Shaw, of Johnstown, PA, were involved in the collision.

Police say around 7:10 a.m. on December 18, a 2016 Freightliner, driven by Shaw, was traveling east on I-80 toward Emlenton in the right-hand lane. Mosner was following behind the Freightliner in a 2014 Toyota Highlander.

Mosner fell asleep at the wheel and drove into the rear of the tractor-trailer. Both vehicles then pulled off to the side of the roadway.

Mosner complained of chest pains, and Emlenton Ambulance took him to Grove City Medical Center.

Shaw was not injured.

Both drivers were using seat belts.

The Toyota was towed from the scene by Tom Hovis Auto Wrecking.

Emlenton Volunteer Fire Department and PennDOT assisted at the scene.

Charges were filed at District Magistrate Lowrey’s office on Mosner for Careless Driving.
