FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) — The Sugarcreek Police Department responded to a crash on the 900 block of Rocky Grove Avenue Friday morning.

Police say around 8:43 a.m. on January 27, 46-year-old William Berry, of Titusville, was traveling south on Rocky Grove Avenue, negotiating a right curve. Due to speed and road conditions, he lost control of his vehicle, and it crossed into the northbound lane.

According to police, 40-year-old James Whitley, Jr., of Franklin, who was traveling north on Rocky Grove Avenue, moved to the far right of the northbound lane and almost avoided the collision.

Berry’s vehicle glanced off Whitney’s vehicle and continued south before impacting a telephone pole, causing severe damage to the passenger’s side of the vehicle.

Whitney refused medical treatment at the scene, police say.

Berry was transported to UPMC Northwest for treatment of unknown injuries.

Sugarcreek Borough Officers were assisted by Community Ambulance Service, Reno Volunteer Fire Department, and Rocky Volunteer Fire Department.
