Woman Transported to UPMC Pittsburgh After Crashing into Fire Truck in Sugarcreek

SUGARCREEK, Pa. (EYT) — A motor vehicle accident occurred Friday morning on the 200 block of Meadville Pike, West of Kistler Street, in Sugarcreek Borough, Venango County.

According to Sugarcreek Borough Police, around 9:26 a.m. on January 27, officers and fire department personnel were at Meadville Pike. Police and fire vehicles were positioned with emergency lights activated within this emergency response zone.

Police say 66-year-old Jackie Renfrew, of Meadville, was traveling eastbound on Meadville Pike in a 2014 Toyota Prius, approaching the emergency response zone. Renfrew applied her the brakes on her vehicle but could not stop and failed to successfully navigate through the response zone. The Toyota struck the front of a firetruck while traveling approximately 35 mph.

Community Ambulance Service transported Renfrew to UPMC Seneca. She was then transferred to UPMC Pittsburgh for further treatment of injuries.

The Toyota sustained severe damage and was towed from the scene.

The fire department vehicle was driven from the scene with moderate to severe damage to the truck an firefighting equipment.
