Ralph G. Jennings, Sr.

Ralph G. Jennings, Sr., 94, of Bradleytown, passed away on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at the Titusville Area Hospital late in the evening, surrounded by his family.

He was born to parents, Walter W. and Ada I. (Hollabaugh) Jennings on December 8, 1924 in Bradleytown.

Ralph proudly served his country in the Navy as a Gunner’s Mate Third Class (T) during WWII, when he was awarded the Victory Medal, American Theater Ribbon, European Theater Ribbon, and the Pacific Theater Ribbon before being Honorably Discharged in January of 1946.

When he returned home, he worked for Koppers Co. as a Reactor Operator.

Ralph married the love of his life, Sarah Lee Brown; she preceded him in death in 2001.

In his spare time, Ralph enjoyed every day to the fullest. He was an avid reader; a proficient auto mechanic; and enjoyed outdoor activities, such as hunting, golfing, and fishing. Ralph loved to garden, where he canned the things he grew, and enjoyed learning about nutrition. He also appreciated the Venango Veteran Affairs and enjoyed his pets.

Most of all, Ralph cherished the time he spent with his family and friends and was a very proud parent, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Ralph is survived by his children, Jack L. Jennings of Alachua, FL, Jill E. Nichols and her husband, James, of Lemont, Illinois, Ralph G. Jennings, Jr. and his wife, Kathy, of Burleson, TX, and Michael J. Jennings, Sr. and his wife, Tina, of Eagle River, AK.

He is further survived by his grandchildren, Sunia Thiam and her husband, Chiek, of Gainesville, FL, Sage Jennings, also of Gainesville, FL, Julie Duncan and her husband, Spencer, of Willowbrook, IL, Joy Athanasiou of Mt. Prospect, IL, Jimmy Nichols and his wife, Rachel, of Seattle, WA, David Jennings of Burleson, TX, and Alisha Jennings, Alexia Jennings, and Michael Jennings, Jr., all of Eagle River, AK; his 6 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to their brother-in-law, Ed Lerch, for his compassionate care and friendship during their father’s golden years.

In addition to his parents and wife, Ralph was preceded in death by his daughters, Kay S. Jennings and Judy L. Jennings; his brother, William H. Jennings; and his sister, Ruth Foster.

Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, PA 16323 from 10 am to 1 pm.

Funeral services will follow visitation at the funeral home at 1 pm with Ralph’s son-in-law, Reverend James Nichols, pastor of the Calvary Church of Lemont in Illinois, officiating.

Military honors will be accorded by the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard.

A private interment for the family will be held at Sunville Cemetery.
