Ralph R. Neill, Jr., 88, of Ringgold, died Thursday morning October 30, 2014, at the Brookville Hospital.

Born March 23, 1926 in Ramsaytown, he was the son of Ralph Robert and Esther Margaret (McAninch) Neill. He was formerly married to Helen Abby (Bell).

He served his country during WWII, as a Seaman 1st class in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946. He was a foreman and coal miner, employed by Rochester and Pittsburgh Coal, Doverspike Bros., and Charlie Schoffner Coal Companies.

He was survived by one son, Randy Neill and wife Karen of Summerville; a daughter Melody Hannold and husband Jeff of Strattanville; four grandchildren, Adam Neill and Alainna Neill of Dubois; Amber Hannold and Autumn Hannold of Strattanville; a sister, Helena Crissman of New Bethlehem; his longtime companion and friend, Ethel Reed (deceased) and her family, Nancy Boddorf and Harold Reed and wife Edna.

He was preceded in death by both parents, his former first wife Helen and his longtime companion, Ethel Reed, three brothers: Preston, Everett and Paul Neill, and five sisters: Ethel Troup, Jessie Tavenner, Verna Troupe, Ruby Copenhaver and June Bish.

Visitation will be on Saturday November 1, 2014 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m Sunday, November 2, 2014 at the funeral home, with Pastors Nancy Zahn and Tom Hannold co-officiating.

Interment will be in the Cedarview Memorial Park in Strattenville.
