MEADVILLE, Pa. — The Pennsylvania State Police in Troop E, along with the Erie Kiwanis Club, has announced online registration for the Troop E Camp Cadet program.

Registration will open February 1 and run through March 31, 2019, at www.pacampcadet.com.

Held at Allegheny College in Meadville, this year’s dates for Camp Cadet are June 16 to June 21, 2019.

Camp Cadet is a week-long camp for youth ages 13-15. Staffed 24 hours per day by state troopers, it is open to all Erie, Crawford, Warren, and Venango County youth.

The purpose of Camp Cadet is to instill self-discipline, self-respect, and self-esteem while teaching paramilitary discipline and courtesy. Cadets participate in a wide variety of instructional sessions including radar, fingerprinting, forensics, drug prevention, building searches, and emergency response. Activities include an obstacle course and platoon competitions with an emphasis on physical fitness and teamwork.

While there is no set fee for camp, applicants are required to participate in a fundraiser to offset their costs. Interested boys and girls must register online by March 31. The camp can accommodate 100 youth and registrations will be accepted in the order in which they are received.
