FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) — The Pennsylvania State Police in Troop E, along with the Erie Kiwanis Club, have announced that applications for the Camp Cadet program are being accepted.

The camp, which is held at Allegheny College in Meadville, is set for June 18-23.

The camp is a week long camp for youth ages 13-15 and is open to all Venango, Erie, Crawford, and Warren county residents.

The purpose of the camp is to instill self-discipline, self-respect, and self-esteem while teaching paramilitary discipline and courtesy.

Cadets participate in a wide variety of instructional sessions, including radar, fingerprinting, forensics, drug prevention, building searches, and emergency response.

Activities include an obstacle course and platoon competitions.

There is no set fee for the camp, but applicants must participate in a fundraiser to cover their costs.

Interested boys and girls must submit their application by April 30. To get an application, call Trooper Michelle McGee at 814-676-6596.
