FOREST CO., Pa. — A project that will give motorists a smoother ride on River Road (Route 2002) in Barnett Township, Forest County, will begin soon.

The project will resurface a section of River Road extending for about two miles west from the intersection with Greenwood Road.

Work will involve resurfacing and updating guide rails.

The project is expected to begin August 14 and is scheduled for completion by August 31.

Full-width paving is expected on this project, and flaggers will be posted to guide motorists around areas where construction activities are taking place.

The contractor is IA Construction Corporation of Franklin.

The contract cost is $364,177.33, which is to be paid entirely with state funds. This project was made possible by Act 89, Pennsylvania’s transportation funding plan.

PennDOT urges motorists to slow down when driving in work zones, and also to be alert to changing conditions, avoid distractions and to pay attention to signs and flaggers.

Drive responsibly in work zones for your safety and the safety of the workers.
