OIL CITY, Pa. – A resurfacing project that is to begin on Monday will result in a smoother ride for motorists traveling State Route 8 in Titusville.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has awarded a contract for milling and paving State Route 8 in the City of Titusville from a point 100 feet south of the Venango/Crawford County line, northward to a point about 148 feet west of the intersection of State Routes 27, 89 and 8 (West Central Avenue).

Work is to begin Monday and is scheduled to be completed by the middle of July.

The contractor is Russell Standard Corp. of Union City. The contract cost is $678,918. The work is being paid entirely with federal funds.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane and controlled by flaggers during construction.

Portions of State Route 8 will have to be closed intermittently during the project, and detours will be posted for those closures.

PennDOT urges motorists to be alert to flagging operations, slow down and avoid
distractions in work zones.
