Robert JanacekReverend Robert “Bob” Janacek, age 86, of Clarington, PA, passed away on May 22, 2017, as a patient of the Allegheny General Hospital, in Pittsburgh, PA.

Bob was born on September 1, 1930, to the late Chester T. and Merlin G. (Durrin) Janacek, in Kalamazoo County, MI.

He was married on June 25, (1955) to Patricia L. (Bonner) Janacek, in Atlasburg, Washington Co., PA; Patricia survives him.

Bob was a very educated man who used his knowledge and experience to help others as a Pastor, Counselor, Mental Health Administrator, and served on the faculty in the at the Dubois campus of Penn State University.

Some of his education credentials are a Bachelors from Eastern Nazarene College in Massachusetts, a Bachelors from Boston University, a Masters degree from Princeton Seminary, a Masters from Winona Lake Seminary, a Doctorate of Sacred Theology from Geneva College, and a Doctorate of Ministry from Boston University.

He attended school while he was working and raising his family.

His first charge after graduating seminary was a Church of the Nazarene Minister, which he held for about 4 years.

In 1960 Bob converted to the Methodist Church and became a minister in Arapahoe, Nebraska.

His ministerial duties took him many places including becoming pastor of the Meade Chapel and Port Barnett Churches.

In 2004, Bob and Patricia moved to Columbus, OH.

In 2014, they came back to retire in the Brookville Area, and have been here ever since.

In addition to the Methodist Church, Bob was a past member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce in Arapahoe, the Lions Club, and the Sertoma Club.

He was Chaplain of the Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, OH, and the Civil Air Patrol in PA.

He was also an honorary member of the Nebraska Navy.

Bob loved being with his wife and they enjoyed traveling together. They traveled to England and enjoyed a cruise in the Bahamas.

Early in his ministry, Bob joined a mission trip to South America.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and hiking.

He authored 2 books; Between Pulpit and Pew and The Symphony of Hope.

In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by 2 sons, R. Mark Janacek of Columbus, OH; Bruce N. Janacek of Oak Park, IL; 1 daughter, Cheryl L. (Kevin) McIntyre of Tucson, AZ; 1 brother, Franklin Janacek; 3 granddaughters, Brittany M. (Jim) Perry, Kimberly M. Janacek, Kelsey L. McIntyre; 3 grandsons, Michael C. Janacek, Jeffrey (Adrienne) Janacek, and Alex R. McIntyre.

In addition to his parents, Bob is preceded in death by his sister, Doris Ruggles.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, May 25, 2017, from 12noon — 2pm, at the Evangelical United Methodist Church, 30 S. White St., Brookville, PA, 15825.

A funeral service will immediately follow the viewing beginning at 2pm.

Interment will take place at the Meade Chapel Cemetery, Knox Twp., Jefferson Co. PA.

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to Meade Chapel United Methodist Church.
