Richard A. “Pete” Silvis, 57, of Corsica lost his battle with cancer on February 22, 2019.

Born on September 17, 1961 in Brookville, he was the son of the late Cecil and Thelma (Sowers) Silvis. He attended Brookville Area High School and then worked at his late Uncle Don Songer’s saw mill. Pete’s most recent place of employment was Matson’s Lumber. While there, he enjoyed running the fork lift and high lift.

Pete enjoyed hunting, riding four-wheelers, and being the honorary “Sheriff” of his community. He liked sitting around the fire with his family and friends.

Pete is survived by his daughter, Cayla Silvis and her fiancé, Travis Bennett; and one grand-daughter, Kiyah Snell. In addition, he is survived by his siblings, brothers Randy (Vicki) Silvis, Mike (Cathy) Silvis, and William (Julie) Silvis; and his sisters, Karen (Wally) Simpson, and Diane (Tim) Thrush along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Cecil Merle Silvis; his mother, Thelma Irene Sowers Silvis; and his daughter, Jacqueline Irene Silvis.

A benefit dinner will be held on March 2, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. at Corsica Fire Hall with proceeds to assist the family with medical and funeral expenses.
