Richard E. Beggs

Richard Eugene Beggs, 68, of 788 Colbert Ave, Oil City, died at 1:55 pm Friday, September 12, 2014, at the Golden Living Center in Oil City.

Born May 23, 1946 in Franklin, he was a son of the late Donald E. and Hazel A. Wilcox Fox.

Mr. Beggs attended Franklin High School.

Dick worked as a sales clerk for several large retailers.

Mr. Beggs was an avid member of the Oil City Eagles and a social member of the Franklin VFW.

He enjoyed golfing and loved the Pittsburgh Steelers.

On November 20, 1976 he married the former Mary L. Sumner.

Surviving are two children, Maj. Richard E. Beggs, Jr and his wife Melissa of Niceville, FL and Kriss A. Stevenson of Oil City; four grandchildren, Alicia Alexander, Samantha Stevenson, Joe S. Beggs, and Will E. Beggs; and one great grandchild, Aiden J. Latchaw.

Also surviving are three brothers, Donald E. Beggs and his wife Andrea of Franklin, W. James Beggs of Franklin, and Ken Beggs of Oil City; two sisters, Jeannie Pfiester and her husband James of Michigan, and Betty L. Jolley and her husband Del of Franklin; a son-in-law, James W. Stevenson of Oil City; and a special friend Robert Tarr of Venus.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Beggs.

There will be no visitation.

A memorial service will be held in the funeral home at 3:00 pm on Monday, September 22, 2014 with the Rev. Mark Rusnak officiating.
