Richard E. Toy Sr., 83, of Templeton died Thursday, July 6, 2017, at ACMH Hospital.

He was born June 23, 1934, in Mosgrove to the late Henry Toy and Lucille Lockhart.

He was a retired coal miner at Carpentertown Coal Company.

Richard was a member of Sloan Hill Church.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, sitting on his porch watching the wildlife, and spending time with his dog “Tiny.” In his younger years he played baseball for the Sloan Hill team. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include daughter, Sherry Stockdale; son, Richard Toy Jr. (Sharon); daughter, Carrie Toy; son, John Toy (Vickie); daughter, Pam Johns; son, Vernon Toy; daughter, Brenda Toy (Andy); daughter, Tracey Essenwein; son, Paul Schrecengost; 16 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Don (Helen) Toy and Bert Toy; and sisters, Rosalie, Pat, Joyce, and Linda.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Donna Toy; second wife, Loretta Toy; stepfather, Ben Johns; son-in-law, Michael Johns; brothers, Vernon and Henry Johns; and sisters, Peg McAfoose, Margie Dinger, Aliene Ruth Johns, and Nancy Lee Johns.

Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 8, 2017, at the Kennedy & Blodgett Funeral Home, 253 N. Grant Ave., Kittanning with the Rev. Brian Beck officiating.

Interment will be in Pine Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
