Richard Hedegore

Richard Hedegore, 85, of Franklin, formerly of Oil City, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Saturday, August 11, 2018, at The Caring Place in Franklin.

Born June 7, 1933, he was a son of the late Frank C. and Mary E. Murdock Hedegore.

After graduating from Oil City High School in 1951, Richard enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving his country during the Korean War. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and National Defense Service Medal.

Upon returning home from his military service, Mr. Hedegore began working as a guager at Pennzoil until his retirement.

Richard enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting and fishing, golfing, and cutting wood.

He was a member of Calvary Temple Church in Oil City.

On October 3, 1958, he was married to the former Barbara Ann Sampsell who survives.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Rodger Hedegore and his wife Christi of Prosper, TX and Ronald Hedegore and his wife Kelly of Hammond, IN; two daughters, Sandra Heyz and her friend Mike O’Neil of Fertigs and Kim Roser and her husband Jack of Oil City; nine grandchildren, Morgan Redden, Miranda Hedegore, Ryan Hedegore, Nicholas Hedegore, Catlin Hedegore, Jamie Steinecker, Brittany Roser, Bethany Roser, and Brianna Roser; and ten great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are a brother, Robert Hedegore and his wife Nancy of Grove City; a sister, Betty Redmond of Washington State; numerous nieces and nephews; and many brothers and sisters-in-law.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Hedegore, and a sister, Patty Marsh.

Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.
