Richard “Macky” Divins

Richard “Macky” Divins, 77, a lifelong resident of Sligo, passed away at Clarion Hospital in the Intensive Care Unit on February 21, 2019 following a lengthy illness.

Born July 14, 1941 in the Village of Kissinger, he was the son of Woodrow and June (Simpson) Divins.

Rich married Patricia “Patty” Delaney on April 1, 1961 and she survives.

He graduated from Union High School in 1961 .

Rich was a laborer and worked for the Former Bracken Construction of Sligo for many years.

Rich was an honorary lifetime member of the Sligo Volunteer Fire Company for 40 years and a member of the Sligo Presbyterian Church .

In Rich’s spare time he enjoyed hunting, spending time with his family and friends, caring for his grandchildren, attending sporting events at Union High School, and playing softball in his younger years.

Rich is survived by his wife, Patty Divins of Sligo, two daughters; Michele Divins-Elder and her husband Jeff of Sligo, DeeAnn “Sug” Laughlin of Rimersburg and her friend Bill Dunn, one brother; Denny Divins and his wife Bridget of Clarion, five grandchildren; Justin Elder, Maddie Elder-Coy, Brady and Mackenzie Divins and Zander Laughlin, and two great grandchildren; Abby Elder and Grayson Coy. He is also survived by he and Patty’s good friend Donna Flick of Sligo.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant son, and a brother Thomas Divins.

Rich’s family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Sunday February 24, 2019 at the Varner Funeral Home in Sligo. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Monday February 25, 2019 at the Sligo Presbyterian Church with Rev Larry Piper, Pastor of Sligo Chapel, officiating, and Rev Gene Hill, Pastor of the Church of Nazarene, coofficiating.

The family suggest memorials be made to the Sligo Volunteer Fire Company, 408 Colerain St, Sligo PA 16255.
