Richard Riddle Breene, 88, of Ashville, NY, formerly of Oil City, died Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Indian River Medical Center, near his home in Vero Beach, FL.

Born June 1, 1928 in Oil City, he was a son of the late Howard Francis and Julia M. Riddle Breene.

Mr. Breene was a graduate of Oil City High School.

Dick served in the US Marine Corps during WWII.

He worked as a manager of the Singer sewing machine store in Titusville in the 50’s prior to working as a press operator at Franklin Steel, from which he retired.

Mr. Breene loved fishing and gardening, and enjoyed spending time at deer camp.

He was a member of the VFW in Jamestown, NY.

On March 28, 1949, he married the former Shirley Ruth Maxwell, who survives.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Julie Breene of Jamestown, NY, a son Dick Breene and wife Caren, formerly of Oil City, a granddaughter, Arnica Sullivan and husband Rob of South Windsor, CT, and twin great grandchildren, Cole and Taryn.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Howard F. Breene.

Friends may call at the Morrison Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 7 pm.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 7 pm at Morrison Funeral Home.

Entombment will be in the mausoleum at Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.
